the Circle of the Dark Moon
The Hekatean Circle was originally formed as a daughter-temple of House of Zephyros and a regularly occurring devotional venerating Hekate, a titaness of the Ancient Greek world. Hekate governs over the spheres of Magick, witchcraft, necromancy, liminal space, and the Dark Moon. Being a titan, Hekate is a personification of Magick itself and is an unfathomable force of nature.
Hekate’s worship has now been widely proliferated and observed well beyond the borders of the Ancient World. This led the evolution of the Hekatean Circle to establish itself first and foremost as a temple of witchcraft, though elements of Hellenic Polytheism provide the core of our practice.
We meet for our rituals under the absent light of the Dark Moon (the new moon) every lunar month. During which, we observe the ancient custom of celebrating Hekate’s Deipnon and appease the spirits of the Restless Dead, we connect with an aspect of the titaness or with an aspect of Her influence, and finally we guide our spells and magickal workings with group divination.
Our circle is welcome to all, regardless of experience level. It is in keeping with our ideals and Her design to further the advancement of Magick in our world and to support those who are on the path.
Our circle is led by Dustin Athanatos, a dedicated priest of Hekate in House of Zephyros. Our continually evolving structure is aligned to meet the needs of our temple and the need for additional roles of responsibility are making themselves known. As we grow, so too does the leadership of Hekate’s devoted.
We thank you for your interest in the circle. We encourage you to attend our rituals and draw your own conclusions, meet like-minded people, and walk whichever path serves your ideals and best interests.
